Writing is a form of personal expression and agency. Yet, for many children, the transition from 'learning to write' to 'writing for pleasure' remains a challenge.

Join ILT Education UK this National Writing Day as we bring together some of the most influential voices in literacy to explore how we can bridge the gap between school-based writing and motivation.

We begin with an exploratory look at the latest data from the National Literacy Trust on writing, followed by a keynote from Ross Young (Writing for Pleasure Centre). Ross will share his research into children’s writing motivation, delving into how their feelings of competence—or lack thereof—shape their relationship with literacy in the classroom.
