Polylino is a service which is currently used in several countries across Europe. In Sweden, the service is called Polyglutt. The Swedish team met up with Carolina Månsson who works at Konvaljegatan's preschool in Hisingen - a nursery who use the Polyglutt service in their setting. Here is what Carolina had to say.

Hi Carolina, tell us a little about yourself and your background!

I work at Konvaljegatan's preschool in Hisingen. My name is Carolina Månsson, 33 years old, I have worked as a preschool teacher for almost eight years. I have a great interest in literature both privately and professionally. Have studied several university courses in the subject of children's literature, parallel to my work. For several years, I have let literature take a large place in thematic works and used the book's magical power to convey emotions, human destinies and dilemmas. There are many benefits to reading to children, but it is important not to forget that reading has value in itself. Not only as a means for other areas of development. I value giving children the key to literature in my work.

How long have you used Polyglutt and why?

We have been using Polyglutt for almost three years. We got access to it and were quick to use it as we consider it to be a very good app. It complements the books we have in the department.

How do you use Polyglutt?

Differently. Partly by plugging it into our projector and reading in a large group - sometimes without sound when I or my colleagues are reading. But sometimes with the sound on as we, together with the children, can sit back and listen. Partly for some children who want to take it easy in the reading corner when we don't have time to read. Sometimes we pause and reflect together on the content, sometimes we let it roll.

Our theme works always have a lot of focus on the world of literature and for that we use Polyglutt. This year's theme is the Earth and travel and there are many books to use. Among other things, books written from different countries, books that raise the refugee issue and books about travel and maps.

What is the biggest benefit of having access to the service?

The amount of literature and also the amount of different languages! We have many multilingual children. Some have found comfort in attending school to hear their own language before they learn Swedish. Also good for other children to hear how different languages sound. Also that they can listen and change books independently without the help of adults.

What do the children think?

They appreciate Polyglutt very much and want to use it often. They can sit for a long time just to listen and watch.

Are there any favorite books in the children's group?

We like to vary ourselves in large groups, but when the children choose themselves it is often Alfons, A fairy in the bathroom, Bosse and Bella, the Who books and fact books about animals. But they also think it's fun to look around for new books.
